When a single transfer beats a sheet

Most of the time, packing designs onto one gang sheet is the cheaper way to buy film. Three cases are the exception, and this is the product for them.

A sample before a run. You are about to press forty hoodies for a customer and you want to see the colour on the actual garment first. Ordering a full sheet to test one design wastes most of the sheet; one transfer at the pressed size answers the question for a couple of dollars.

A one-off. One shirt for a coach, one apron for a market stall, one tote as a gift. There is no sheet to fill and no reason to pretend otherwise.

A job where every piece is a different size. Mixed sizes pack badly. A sheet full of awkward gaps costs more in wasted inches than buying the pieces individually.

How the sizing works

You pick the size you will actually press, not the size that looks tidy in a list. A youth full front at 8 inches and an adult at 11 are different pieces, and printing everything at 11 so the numbers match means the youth shirts look like billboards and you paid for inches you then had to work around.

Common calls: 3 to 4 inches for a left chest, 8 to 10 for an adult full front, 10 to 12 for a back print, 2 to 3 for a sleeve or a tag. Press settings are the same as for any other film we print — the pressing sequence is the same one.

Questions we get

Is a single transfer more expensive per inch?

No. The rate does not change with quantity — it is the same film off the same roll. What changes is how much of the width you use. A 4-inch piece does not use the other 18 inches of the roll, so a sheet that packs four across is better value per design. That is arithmetic about packing, not a penalty on small orders.

Can I order the same design at two sizes?

Yes. Order the piece twice at the two sizes you need. If you want several sizes of several designs, that is the point where packing them onto one sheet usually costs less.

How long does a sample take to reach me?

It prints the same business day it is ordered and goes out that afternoon. Transit is the same for one transfer as for a 240-inch roll — the current ground bands by region are published.

Will a single transfer wash the same as one off a sheet?

Identical. Same film, same ink, same white underbase, same cure. The only difference between a single piece and a piece cut off a sheet is where it was sitting when it printed.
